In addition to searching for jobs online, many people check their skills on various job-related websites. A group of hackers took advantage of this interest among job seekers and stole information by opening a fake skills verification website. They also ran campaigns on LinkedIn, the social media platform for professionals, to defraud job seekers.
That's why Microsoft advises LinkedIn users to be careful before giving out personal information online. Microsoft posted on the microblogging site X that Safer Slate, a North Korean hacking group, was targeting LinkedIn users. They did this by first posting fake job ads on LinkedIn.
When interested job seekers click on the ad, the fake website is launched and they are forced to provide personal information to verify skills. Once this data is collected, various types of cyberattacks are carried out. According to Microsoft, the "Safer Slate" hacking group mainly steals virtual currency cryptocurrencies through various fraudulent activities.
Therefore, they can commit major fraud by collecting users’ personal and sensitive information. To ensure the safety of LinkedIn users, several malicious website domains have been blocked.
