The U.S. Navy will transfer its Naval Ordnance Research Calculator (NORC) instrument to the Naval Surface Weapons Center in Virginia, U.S. The machine was developed under the direction of Wallace Eckart at the Watson Scientific Computer Laboratory.

Several U.S. companies have expressed demand for the device. Physicist Edward also wanted the device for use in atomic computing. But ultimately NORC was awarded to the U.S. Navy.
